The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Lowland regions the smallest region in Canada, its located on the southern parts of Ontario and Quebec.The Canadian Shield and the Appalachians are both neighbours of the St. Lawrence River. The Lowlands are relatively flat with some rolling hills which are made up of sedimentary rock, the region was created during the Paleozoic era roughly 300 million years ago.The Lowland was once covered in pine forest, birch, hemlock, and maple trees but most of this land has been cleared for the use of farmland. The Great Lakes Lowland climate is a humid, continental climate, it has a dry climate with very cold winters and very hot summers, it is the closest region in Canada to the equator. There is a variety of vegetation in Great Lake St. Lawrence Lowland. Many trees like deciduous and conifer, such as walnut, maple, hemlock and oak can be grown . As well as this, tobacco plants, peaches, cherries, grapes, apples, hay and many vegetables, such as carrots and beans are found here. Manufacturing is the St. Lawrence, Great Lakes Lowlands biggest industry. Manufacturing plants are located in the golden horseshoe. they manufacture steel, iron-ore, coal and limestone, The minerals found here include iron ore, zinc, silver, coal, copper and lead. These minerals are dependent on the rocks found in this region. The continental climate making the Farming industry only a job half of the year as the climate is very cold in the winter making it impossible to grow anything in the winter.
